It’s Our 1st Anniversary… and Shit JUST Got Real!

Today’s the first year anniversary of this blog.

On January 28, 2013, I purchased the domain www.byehighschool.org and started planning how I’d use my
writing skills to help young people make their own way in the real world.

For a whole year, I’ve committed to maintaining a relationship with my readers. For a whole year, I’ve tried to share resources, information and tips that I felt would help young people create a successful life after high school.

For a whole year, I’ve gone above and beyond to try and make life after high school easier for anyone willing to pay attention.

And today, on this first year anniversary, I’d just like to say – FUCK THAT (*Kendrick Lamar voice*).

shit just got real, no nonsense, snapping, some type of way

Because it’s hard to get people to listen when you’re being nice. It’s hard to get people to pay attention when you’re being helpful.

And it’s damn near impossible to get people to read these days, unless you’re being abrasive and making them feel some type of way.

But when you finally snap and talk about how ridiculous most of their beliefs and decisions are… miraculously, ears start opening up.

I’ve realized that.

So here I am… done being nice.

I’m done trying to share little tips and tidbits of information that could truly help young people create a much better life for themselves.

Henceforth, my posts are going to be more like informative vents about our fucked up society and how we have GOT to educate ourselves – and stop waiting for hand outs.

I’m staying in line with what I said here in this video about sharing more of myself. But the focus of ByeHighSchool is about to TOTALLY change!

I don’t really care about helping anyone become “successful” after high school anymore. I think that’s the damn problem with most people now… we’re so focused on having

  • money
  • cars
  • clothes
  • power, and
  • status

that we’ve forgotten how to connect as basic human beings!

My ONLY concern going forth with ByeHighSchool is stressing the importance of self-education. Because almost everything you learned in high school (and college) is bullshit.

Stick around long enough, and I’ll prove that to you.

So yea… shit just got real.

Because I have to be true to the woman I’m becoming. And that woman is tired of conformity. Tired of sheep. Tired of people who won’t question the way society is set up.

So I’m speaking up about it as I step into year two of running ByeHighSchool.

Kiss everything you learned in high school, goodbye.

Kiss all of those high hopes and dreams of getting a college degree and having money, power & respect just fall in your lap, GOODBYE.

Real life doesn’t happen that way for the vast majority. The older you get, the more you’ll see that.

Hope I haven’t scared you away too badly… If you’re confused about the sudden change, just know it’s been brewing behind the scenes for months now. If you follow me on Instagram (@byehighschool), you probably have a better idea of what I mean.

To keep updated, scroll back up to the top of this page and subscribe in the black box for instant email notifications every time I post something.

Because my posts will no longer be anywhere near as nicely-worded as they used to be, if you’re already a subscriber, you can also unsubscribe before I offend you.

Either way, I’ll live. :)

I so agree with every statement you’ve made in this post. It’s time for me to Get Real and find my true happiness in my life, and not anyone’s else.
